Dr. Alvarez is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma Specialist with over 7 years of experience in the optometric field. He graduated from The University of the Incarnate Word with a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and earned a Doctorate in Optometry from the UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry. While in optometry school, he served as President of the Student Volunteers in Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) and the Private Practice Student Organization. He was recognized and awarded Clinical Excellence by the Rosenberg School of Optometry and Practice Excellence by Vision Service Plan and The American Academy of Optometry.
The scope of his clinical training includes rotations at Eye Center of Texas in Houston, TX and Kozlovsky, Delay and Winter Eye Consultants in San Antonio, TX. There he gained proficiency in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease and management of post-operative refractive eye care.
Dr. Alvarez aims to provide exemplary eye care to his patients aiming to address their visual concerns and quality of life. His experience encompasses care for ocular disorders such as red eyes, dry eyes, cataracts, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.
In his free time, Dr. Alvarez enjoys tennis, golf, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He is soon to be married and preparing for their future with his fiancée, also an optometrist.
