TECNIS Multifocal Toric II IOL
San Antonio Eye Specialists is Introducing the TECNIS Multifocal Toric II IOL to the San Antonio region.
Nader Iskander, MD FACS of San Antonio Eye Specialists is proudly the first surgeon in South Texas and the greater San Antonio area to implant the TECNIS Multifocal Toric II Lens. This innovative IOL, recently approved by the FDA, helps cataract patients see at most distances, even up close, with little or no dependence on reading glasses or bifocals.
Cataract surgery entails the removal of the natural eye lens that has calcified and become cloudy with age. The natural eye lens is then replaced with an Intraocular Lens, or IOL. Many patients who are undergoing cataract surgery also have astigmatism that will continue to affect their vision after cataract surgery, if left untreated. The TECNIS Multifocal Toric II lens, allows for astigmatism correction up to +2.75 diopters, and also helps correct presbyopia.
The TECNIS Multifocal Toric II IOL is special because it utilizes frosted haptics, which are essentially small arms on the lens which helps fixate the IOL within the eye. The frosted haptics secure the lens in the proper position by providing more surface texture and friction between the lens and the capsular bag.
